Yup - we did the Bay To Breakers again this year - Katie's third time. We had splendid company: Henry - from St. Paul, Jim from Los Altos Hills, Susan from San Francisco and Anthony from Vancouver. We did it in UNDER 3 hours and with no fussing - from any of the participants ... except maybe Steve. Here is the pictorial history.
The first picture wasn't taken until heartbreak hill, showing everyone struggling up
the incline: Notice the fine buggy in which Katie was
chauffeured - at least for about half of the race. Carrying and walking make
up the rest.
&
are a couple of examples, but
everyone pitched in. Henry, who is a couple of weeks short of 80 had the least
trouble with the 7+ mile course:
Jim was a stalwart too as he entertained Katie for may of the miles:
For a lot of the time Katie rode in her excellent buggy; it is big
enough to give her a lot of freedom for all that time:
As you can see from the pictures,
the weather was great and taking Katie along was an especially good time. Here is
Jim supervising Jami's carrying chore:
and Jami posing with the star of the show:
We stopped en route for a couple
of group shots:
After two and a half hours, or so we were heading toward the
finish line:
all wearing our "Mike's Hard
Lemonade" shirts, a gift from north of the border courtesy of Anthony. Finally
we hit the finish line, with Katie insisting that she cross it "on her own:"
Then we lined up for the final
pictures:
Following that wonderful stroll, we headed to the park for a picnic. Anthony
entertained Katie and was spelled by Susan
while Katie watched the pigeons with fascination. Katie got into her
"Honk the Nose" game with Susan
and with Jim
Katie enjoyed her bread and
water (we're on a budget here)
and a great Bay To Breakers day ended
around 3:00pm.
