Kathleen's First Birthday
Here it is - January 18th, 1998. Seems like just yesterday ... and all that. But it has been an amazing year for all of us.
We had a very small birthday party for Katie, which was good since both of her parents
are sick. You already saw the cake on the
main home page. She got a lot of presents, Fortunately, even though her
birthday is close to Christmas, no one gave her one present for both events, which is what
happened to me when I was growing up. Did I ever tell you about the $5.00 my
Grandmother gave me and then my mom....
Anyway, Katie was overjoyed with her gifts, and as soon as she learns to write, you
will all get Thank You notes. This includes the dolls from the Davenports and the bath toys from the Regniers
. She was entranced with the Cabbage
Patch doll from Grandma and Grandpa Dover, starting with the wrapping
and then on to the contents
giving it a big kiss. We gave her some books
and a "walker toy" that makes a
lot of noise when you push it
which I suspect we will regret in a few days. I think the hit of the present opening
was the hand drawings by Monica in the card she got from the Regniers - she wouldn't put
it down
We finally adjourned to the kitchen to blow out the candles and eat some wonderful Angel Food cake that her Mommy made.
