Katie's Baptism (08/01/98)
(Note: Click on the thumbnail images to see the "big pictures.")
We drove up to Tahoe on Friday. Once the traffic was behind us, we had a great time with our friends Paul & Sandy Otellini and their daughter Alexis. Paul's brother, Monsignor Steven Otellini was also there with his good friend, the delightful Father Pat Manning from Ohio - otherwise known as "Godbless."
Katie and Alexis bonded immediately. Alexis was a great help looking after Katie as they explored the various reaches of Lake Tahoe. Here is a great sequence of Alexis walking Katie up from the lake:
We had a great dinner the night before the baptism, lasting a little too far into the
night ... and violating the "even number" rule. Here are some of the shots
from dinner, starting with Msgr. Otellini and Sandy: . Then we bring Pat into view, with
Sandy and Alexis:
. Of course, Paul was there and we were obviously having fun:
Andy Katie was a good scout,
staying up until after dark:
.
The next day was highlighted with Katie's baptism - here she is in her dress - not at
all wanting to pose: .
We walked over to Corpus Christi church for a memorable ceremony performed by Msgr.
Otellini and assisted by Fr. Pat. Then we lined up for pictures, starting with the
proud mother and father: (technical note: the following pictures were taken with a
Sony digital video camera, as opposed to the Olympus digital still camera used for the
previous ones. They were taken using the "photo" setting on the camera and
downloaded through a 1394 link. I haven't mastered all of this setup yet, so the
seeming lack of quality compared to the stills may be operator error.)
. The godparents were Chris and Renee
shown here with Msgr. Otellini.
Abby and Andy, Katie's cousins also attended:
.
Here are our hosts Paul, Sandy and Alexis:
And Msgr. Steve and Father Pat:
And almost finally, the entire group, minus Father Pat who kindly consented to be
the photographer:
That evening, in addition to a wonderful Limoncello tasting (if you have to ask, you are not Italian) we had perhaps the best salmon dinner ever made - anywhere.
Thanks to all, from Katie, Jami and Steve for a very memorable weekend!
