Katie had two birthday celebrations: the first was opening the
presents she received from the family on her ACTUAL birthday. She was most impressed
by her cowgirl skirt, posing outside on the wet bricks and in her jeep.

The following Saturday, we had our first public birthday party for Katie. We
coated the entryway floor with paper, put up some balloons 
and invited eight little kids (and their mothers!). The paper on
the floor was a big hit for coloring ANYWHERE. 
Hopefully all the kids realized that they couldn't do this when
they went home. Katie was a little shell shocked at first, 
but rapidly got into
things. We had the "balloon lady" come - another big hit: 
And, of course,
cake and ice cream for all: 
And it all ended with a "big hug" for her Daddy in his special balloon hat:
