Jami's Surprise Party

Yes - it was a surprise! Jami's parents, Stephen's parents, Stephen's sister Fran (who gets all of the photo credits on this page), Jami's sister Michele, Aunt and Uncle Mary and John, Grandpa Dover and a host of others snuck into our home to await Jami's return from the cabin.  Michele, in her usual business like manner, took charge of the name tags NameTags.jpg (32740 bytes)   while everyone waited, 40thWaiting.jpg (41591 bytes) and waited.  There they huddled in the garage, drinking champagne and sweating GarageBallons.jpg (50750 bytes) while they waited.  The tent was up (I figure the local meteorologists owe me a lot for their forecast of rain)  Tent.jpg (59308 bytes) and the tables were set Tables.jpg (53903 bytes) and yet they waited.  Finally we pulled up in the car and the garage door went up - Surprise! JamiCar.jpg (47976 bytes)

Diane (here with Ed) Gelbach.jpg (51858 bytes) commented that it took guts to give a surprise party without letting the intended have time to put on makeup.  The ladies (Katie and Jami) rushed upstairs to change clothes although neither had to add to their glowing natural beauty.  Katie played Greta Garbo KatieSunglasses.jpg (33244 bytes) while Jami broke into a nice birthday smile. Jami40thSmile.jpg (43449 bytes)  The airplane showed up right on time for the banner flyover HappyNth.jpg (13282 bytes)

Lots of friends (and my megabyte limit keeps me from putting all of the pictures here) came from all over.  Here are some of them: The Carstens and the Muellers  CarstenMueller.jpg (60070 bytes); Rich and Diane DelateurArmer.jpg (34286 bytes); our neighbors the Gays with Carroll GaysCarroll.jpg (72791 bytes); some of the Intel folk: Greg, Ann and Pam  PollaceLewnes.jpg (37591 bytes) and Andy and Eva with Jami  AndyEvaJami.jpg (52568 bytes); and some former Intel folk: the Toombs with our neighbors the Dubovoys ToombsDubovoy.jpg (50649 bytes) and Catherine and Joy: YettsJoy.jpg (45673 bytes). Oh, and I almost forgot, Sean holding forth on some no doubt relevant and complicated theme while enjoying the adulation of his table partner SeanJoy.jpg (37437 bytes).

As the old saying goes, "Where there is free food, there is often family."  This party was no exception.  Jami's grandfather, Jim was there along with Stephen's dad, Henry HenryJimSr.jpg (58125 bytes).   The two mothers-in-law - or mothers, depending on your viewpoint, Ruth and Anita were tremendous helps RuthAnita.jpg (37690 bytes) as was Jami's dad, Jim (as you can see from this picture). JimD.jpg (45999 bytes)  Jami's Aunt Mary and Uncle John made their first visit to our place JohnMary.jpg (25146 bytes) And, as always, Katie was popular and charming:  here she is with Neko NekoKatie.jpg (31021 bytes) and here she is with Jim and Michele KatieJimMichele.jpg (34892 bytes) and here she is going down her slide KatieSlide.jpg (37235 bytes)

The musicians played on into the night Musicians.jpg (31564 bytes) and Jami seemed to enjoy the whole affair JamiStanding.jpg (18139 bytes)

That's it from the webmaster: Stephen.jpg (56593 bytes)Happy Birthday and All Our Love To Jami.
